POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Director of Music/Worship Coordinator
Report to: Senior Pastor
Antioch East Baptist Church has served the Lord for more than 144 years, with a congregation of 175 - 200 members. We are a family church that values an environment thriving on close knit relationships, community involvement and impacting the spiritual lives of those around us.
Antioch East Baptist church is seeking a Director of Music Worship Coordinator, who is a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, a person of character and integrity who views this position as a calling from God. The primary responsibility for this position is planning and development of the music worship ministry of Antioch East Baptist Church and other duties as outlined by The Senior Pastor, supporting the vision and mission of the church as a part of a collaborative team working and coordinating with the ministry/board leaders/staff in overseeing the management/guidance of our music worship ministry.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Direct organization and implementation of Antioch East Baptist Church music worship ministry
*In consultation with the Senior Pastor, plan all regular Sunday morning worship services, including selecting choral and special music, appropriate hymns and litanies, order of worship
*Direct all choirs, praise teams, ministries, and ensembles, rendering music for every morning worship service, leading weekly rehearsals, selecting music and soloist, assisting musicians and play for other major services throughout the year
*In consultation with the Senior Pastor, develop new and creative music programs and activities
*Supervise music staff, including soloist, choir leaders, choir section leaders, organist, instrumentalists and guest musicians
*Conduct annual workshops for music staff and choirs
*Collaborate with media technical team to enhance worship experience across all services and environments
*Available to assist in coordination of events with church ministries, including (but not all inclusive)church school, praise dancers and steppers
*Identifies, recruits, and train gifted individuals and encourages those persons through effective leadership
*Recommend budgetary expenditures for music worship ministry working in conjunction with finance ministry
*Oversee the maintenance of church organ, piano, drums and other musical instruments and ordering new equipment and work with and provide input to the media ministry to ensure that the church uses the latest technology
*Keep informed on the current music methods, materials and administration, utilizing them when applicable
*Maintain and develop church music library
*Provide musical support or arrange through another musician to provide set support for your responsibilities when you are not available (I.e. funerals, worship services, rehearsals, etc.)
*Oversee community engagement opportunities with choirs (I.e. Nursing homes, assisted living, schools, neighborhood events, etc.)
*Communicate details and weekly expectations for choirs, worship leaders, musicians and functions through planned scheduled meetings
*Direct and oversee the Resurrection and Christmas concerts
*Provide musical support when the Senior Pastor and choirs are invited to other churches
QUALIFICATIONS:
*A multi talented trained musician with the ability and flexibility to work with all age groups
*Bachelor or higher degree and/or conservatory training in music and diverse musical training strongly preferred
*Experience in choral conducting required
*Experience in stage production desired
*Leadership, people, organizational and administrative skills required
